Centuries after humans mastered space travel, they began to think of the universe as an empty place that they could exploit with impunity. They saw its uncharted territories as an endless playground. They built farms and mines on the planets they found, extracted precious resources, expanded their empire, and strengthened it with boundless wealth. They created a culture and economy that depended on ever-increasing expansion. They believed that no limits could be imposed upon their greed. But the universe cared little for those beliefs.
The year is 2870, and a military alliance called the Senate controls most of the universe. They maintain power through armies and their vast economic resources. They concentrate their wealth and power in an elite circle of families, who ensure the continuation of the order by intermarriage and inheritance. Each member of the Senate handles an area of the solar system and the colonies beyond. Their security and prosperity depend upon the oppression and the exploitation of the poor.
But there is hope for a new order. A rebellious contingent called the Dawn is fighting to break free from the chains of the Senate. These brave souls refuse to abide by the reign of a privileged few. They throw off the yoke of slavery by setting out to create their fortune and destiny.
